The Gut Check: Leadership doesn’t wait for permission

The Gut Check: Your weekly pulse on intuition, strategy, and decisive leadership.

Hi Reader,

I recently made a decision that felt both small and big at the same time. And this decision has shifted everything.

I canceled a neighborhood block party I’d been organizing. Because my intuition said no. I know the feeling of misalignment: my energy, my priorities, my focus said not now. And the data confirmed my gut.

That’s leadership.

Not the loud kind. Not the title-driven kind. The kind that starts with a moment of clarity and moves into action.

Leadership is the act of making a decision other people can follow.

It doesn’t require a role. Just courage, clarity, and conviction.

Today's Gut Check is about listening to that inner signal and choosing the kind of leadership that doesn’t wait for permission.

🎧 Podcast Conversation: From Sticky Floors to Infinite Possibilities

What happens when success no longer feels aligned?

This week on The Intuition Strategist Podcast, I’m joined by Erica Anderson Rooney — speaker, author, and founder of HER Collective — for a real conversation about leaving the path that looks good on paper to follow the one that feels right in your body.

We talk about:
→ The power of one small, irreversible step
→ Why your energy is often more honest than your résumé
→ Overcoming what keeps us stuck through irreversible action

We pulled a Corporate Tarot Cards® spread to explore how Erica's building HER Collective and what the cards revealed about stretching into what your intuition knows to be next.

If you’re feeling the nudge, this one’s for you.

🃏 Weekly Corporate Tarot Cards® Pull: Trust

When everything feels important, where do you start?

This week, I asked the Corporate Tarot Cards®: What energy do you lead with when the pressure is high and priorities compete?

The answer: TRUST.

Trust that doing the right thing — not all the things — is what opens the path forward.

Trust that clarity comes not from doing more, but from aligning your energy with what truly matters.

✨ What are you choosing to trust this week?

🎙️ Leadership Insight: Redefining Leadership with Archetypes

This solo podcast episode starts with the canceled neighborhood block party.

On the surface it wasn't a big deal. But underneath it was a full-body yes to alignment, the start of something new, and a sharp reminder:

Leadership isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing what’s aligned.

That one moment of clarity opened the door to a new framework I’ll be exploring throughout the summer: Leadership Archetypes.

Which archetypes are you comfortable in? Which ones are you growing into? What do you need in your Leadership Portfolio?

This episode is a peek into something new. It's about trusting your intuition in real life. Not just in big moments, but in the small ones that shape who you’re becoming.

The leaders I trust most aren’t the ones with perfect timing or polished plans. They’re the ones who listen, act, and realign as they go.

This week, give yourself permission to trust what you already know.

To say no when it’s not aligned. To say yes when it’s time to lead.

The Gut Check: Your pulse on intuition, strategy, and decisive leadership. Hi Reader, Some of my most formative professional experiences were working on consulting engagements known as Value Based Deals. These programs were intended to provide consulting services that realized actual, tangible, quantifiable benefits for clients (think beaucoup bucks CapEx and OpEx savings for Fortune 100 companies) without upfront payment. This was particularly appealing during the economic downturn in 2008...

The Gut Check: Your pulse on intuition, strategy, and decisive leadership. Hi Reader, I get asked all the time what it actually means to trust your gut. It’s one of those phrases everyone nods at. Some people say it proudly - I always trust my gut! Some regret not doing it - I knew I should have trusted my gut...Some wonder what it actually means - Is it “woo-woo”? “Bro-science”? Trusting your gut is having the confidence to act on what your intuition is telling you. What I Mean When I Say...
