The Gut Check: Ten Minutes to Realign Before Year End

The Gut Check:
Your pulse on intuition, strategy, and decisive leadership.

Hi Reader,

December is full. Despite our best efforts to savor the season, we're careening towards deadlines and countdowns. But before you speed into 2026, take a few minutes to make sure you’re pointed in the right direction.

Here’s a simple realignment exercise I use with clients (and myself) to clear the noise, hear your inner trusted advisor, and get focused... fast.

📝 The Alignment Audit (10 minutes)

You only need a sheet of paper and a timer.

1. Pick your timeframe.
Look back at the last 3 to 6 months. Pick what feels right, no overthinking.

2. Choose one focus area.
Just one. Something that mattered to you this year: work, leadership, a project, your energy, a goal you focused on.

3. Divide your page into three columns:

  • Victories - what worked, what moved, what felt aligned
  • Observations - what didn’t move, what got in the way, what surprised you
  • Shifts - what your intuition is nudging you to adjust for next time

4. Set a timer for 5 minutes.
Fill the page. Bounce between columns. Follow your flow. It works because it’s fast.

5. Look for themes (2 minutes).
What stands out?
What feels energizing?
What feels done?
What deserves more space next year?

That’s your Actionable Intuition talking. Those are clues for your next aligned move.

SUPERCHARGE IT: Pull a card
For an extra intuition boost, pull a Corporate Tarot Cards® to focus your reflection through one lens. This allows your intuition to emerge and create new connections.

BONUS: Come back later
For extra clarity, pull this sheet out again next week. Return to the themes and questions from Step 5. Allowing a few days of space between the exercise and a deeper reflection will prime your intuition to be even more resonant.

Why This Works

When you pause and reflect quickly, you’re shifting your brain out of reactive mode and into strategic thinking.

That fast switch reduces noise, calms cognitive load, and makes space for what I call Actionable Intuition. It activates the pattern-recognition engine in your brain that processes invisible data long before you can articulate it.

In ten minutes, you’re giving your brain the conditions it needs to surface clearer priorities, spot what actually moved the needle, and identify the small adjustments that will create outsized results next year.

The bonus reflection allows your strategic slow thinking to emerge more boldly.

One page. Ten minutes. A clearer path forward.
