The data you already have in your leadership team

Hi Reader,

Every AI startup is telling you to implement software to create more data. That’s noise.

Your team already has a fine-tuned data set: the informal conversation with a customer, a response to a question at the town hall, the off-hand comment heard at a team lunch.

Most leaders were never taught to use it intentionally.

Teams that turn their lived experience into actionable insights make better decisions.

Collective intuition is the experience and expertise each member of your team brings with them to the organization each day.

Learning to use this valuable data to make important decisions is one of the most important investments you can make.

Intuition Strategy® in action

Two recent conversations on The Intuition Strategist Podcast illustrate how using invisible data creates value:

Erin Davis, an award-winning inclusion strategist and founder of Erin Davis Co., spoke about what it takes to create better systems. We discussed how solutions are more valuable when they come from the people who are close to the issues, who understand the impact, and who are actually going to do the work to make the change.

Erin shares some memorable examples: the curb cut designed for wheelchairs now helps every parent pushing a stroller; the cushioned vegetable peeler made for people with arthritis is now the preferred version.

When more people help design the solution, everyone gains. As Erin says, “We are better off when we’re together.”

In my conversation with Leslie Forde, CEO of Mom’s Hierarchy of Needs and author of  Repair with Self-Care: Your Guide to the Mom’s Hierarchy of Needs, we talk about analytical data and the invisible data of intuition.

Leslie’s work makes invisible data visible. She turned her own professional burnout into data: over 3,700 parents have participated in her research study, and she held 85 calls in six weeks with HR and DEI leaders at the onset of the pandemic to build her employer framework.

As Leslie shares, “I can use this information to fix the system that took me down.” Once you can see the data, you can act on it.
